Chatelaine Interiors are based near Newbury Berkshire. They provide a bespoke service to clients looking for beautiful and practical interior furnishings. These include curtains, blinds and soft furnishings. All though are made by hand.
They are a popular choice for people who want something special. Who want quality in their home as each client is different.
With her small team, Steph Douthwaite has built a reputation of delivering hand-made quality furnishings.
THE PROBLEM: Timeframe and Quality
Prior to Christmas 2017, in previous years what would happen is work slowed down around October. Then there would be a sudden rush where everyone would want work done in for Christmas!
In addition, because the team love helping people, they would take all orders they received. It turns out that some of these were just not as profitable as others but had the same work involved!
This often led to the team working long hours and becoming extremely tired as they tried to match demand with supply. They really didn’t have an automated sales funnel.
They didn’t want another year like previous ones, so they were looking for a solution.
THE SOLUTION: Expectation and Qualification
The first step was to understand how previous years worked. To see what the flow of work had been like. Then to look at systems to tidy up some processes.
What as needed was to allow customers to book work. This had to be on a basis that suited the workflow of the team but to make sure it met their expectations.
We created a Christmas Funnel, – it had two parts: to solve the client’s expectations and to target the more profitable work.
- To meet the client’s expectations, we introduced a booking system. They received a email advising them of this and when they had to book their order to guarantee Christmas delivery.
- The second part was to qualify the work required. The clients entered requirements into a system. This system then qualified the work, This meant the more profitable work was prioritised.
THE RESULT: Speed and Stress Free
The campaign was released within one week of agreeing the strategy.
All clients were emailed to advise of the Christmas campaign. All new leads were fed into this automated sales funnel.
The client managed to secure the work she wanted in an orderly fashion. Clients expectations were managed, and the stress levels reduced considerable from the previous years!
